With dump trucks collecting garbage from Cebu City’s mountain barangays twice a week at most, Acting Mayor Margot Osmeña wants loaders in the upland areas to help in collecting garbage in the city’s urban barangays.

“During my June 8 meeting with the loaders, I found out they don’t collect garbage (mountain barangays) everyday. Some of the barangays use their dump trucks for other purposes, which are mostly legit,” she said.

But Osmeña said some dump trucks were unusable.

“The other thing is that we wanted to see if those are not used on a particular day. These dump trucks could be used down here (lowland),” she said.

She said there aren’t enough dump trucks to collect the garbage from the urban barangays.

“So the trucks are not being used in the mountain barangays. We can work out a schedule so we can use them,” Osmeña said.

Osmena said the trucks can be returned to their barangays after use.

“It does not matter if you’re working once a week as compared to those who work everyday. They get the same but they can be used down here to help out,” she said.
