REIGNING men’s volleyball champion Southwestern University (SWU) hopes to fill the void left by Rommel Pepito by adding four new players to its powerhouse lineup for the upcoming Cebu Schools Athletics Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) season that starts next month.
Pepito, who bagged the Best Spiker plum last season, won’t be suiting for the Cobras this season after skipping this school year without citing any particular reason.
To address its offensive woes, SWU acquired the talents of Moalboal, Cebu’s volleyball phenom Mariel Canumay, Bohol’s Jude Amper and former University of San Carlos (USC) Warriors stars Raul Consad and Nilo Jasmin.
Meanwhile, the SWU girls’ team will finally have the services of Bukidnon’s Cheth Vae Gawangon this season after being out for all of last year due to the league’s residency rule, which requires players from other leagues to serve a one-year residency period before allowing them to see action.
