THE vessel MV Belle Rose was moved backwards by a salvor company that tried to pull it towards deeper waters Saturday morning.

Noel Kimmayong, marine superintendent of Malayan Towage and Salvaging Corp. confirmed the development in a press conference on board a motorbanca.

The team is monitoring the progress of the operation on board a motorbanca.

Kimmayong still can’t confirm the exact distance of the movement of the ship. He said only a small volume of water from the ballast tanks were discharged because the ballast pump malfunctioned.

He could not also identify yet the exact amount volume of water discharge.

There are two tugboats at the back portion of the ship while another tugboat is at the forward section to maintain balance.

MV Belle Rose, a Panama-registered cargo ship, ran aground in Monad Shoal dawn of Sunday.
