Pandoo Foundation ice hockey, figure skating clinic wraps up
THE WEEK-LONG ice hockey and figure skating skills development activity of Cebu-based Pandoo Foundation ends today at the ice skating rink of SM Seaside City Cebu.
A group of children from Manila and Singapore took part in the fund-raising activity, which was the highlight of Pandoo Foundation’s sports and leadership program. Less fortunate children, who are beneficiaries of Pandoo, also joined the event.
The event was headed by Program Manager Adam Reid and Pandoo’s Lisa Stevens.
The foundation also organizes local girls’ volleyball tournament, which is participated in by its beneficiaries.
Pandoo Foundation is an organization linked to an online game world called Pandoo Nation, whose main headquarters is based in Singapore.
Launched by the founder of online games ShiftRunner, its mission is to celebrate and assist a new generation of young people to put their values and evolving world view into action and to actively participate in improving the lives of others through online gaming.
“Our foundation here in Cebu is growing steadily and one of our programs is the skills development on sports which also focuses in character building. We’ve [been] in Cebu since 2014, and we already employed 15 Cebuanos in our foundation,” said Stevens in an interview yesterday at the SM Seaside City Cebu’s skating rink.
“We are hoping that these programs will grow because we believe that the kids can learn real life lessons in sports also,” Stevens added
Although Pandoo Nation has yet to be launched, its foundation has been operating in Cebu for the past two years. The foundation’s other programs are disaster relief, financial inclusion, education and health and sanitation.
The revenue generated by Pandoo Nation from its subscribers and players will go to Pandoo Foundation’s charitable works in Cebu.
“We want to make Pandoo Nation’s gamers know that the money they spent on the game will help people in real life,” said Reid.
