A SECURITY guard of Casa Gorordo Museum in Cebu City lost his service firearm to a thief past midnight on Friday.

Reynaldo Noquillo reportedly fell asleep at the compound of the historical landmark when the thief reportedly came in, said PO1 Marlito Portugueza of the Waterfront Police Station.

The museum, operated by the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI), also lost P180 cash.

“We have yet to establish how the incident happened,” Portugueza told CDN.

There were no signs of forced entry based on the initial investigation conducted by the police.

“The thief freely went inside the premises of museum. And the guard on duty admitted he fell asleep,” Portugueza said.

In its official statement, Dr. Jocelyn Gerra, executive director of RAFI Culture and Heritage, said they are working closely with the police and has granted access to its closed-circuit television (CCTV) footages to identify the thief.
