A SEARCH is ongoing for an 11-year-old boy who went swimming at a waterfall in sitio Canbaliwan, barangay Valencia in Carcar City despite a downpour at 8 am last Saturday, July 2.

Baltazar Tribunalo, chief of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), said he sent a team to find the boy who slipped and fell off a 70-foot cliff into the waters.

The Carcar City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office received the report at 1:50 pm and immediately sought assistance from the PDRRMO. The province’s rescue team arrived at 4 pm but had to pull out at 7 pm last Saturday.

The search resumed Sunday morning. “The waterfall was locally famous for adventurers though the terrain is really risky.

Development of the area for eco-tourism is still ongoing,” Tribunalo said.

He said the boy and his friends should have been kept at home instead of swimming in the waterfall by their parents due to the rains.
