A JOINT police and military force uprooted an estimated P3 million worth of marijuana plants in two mountain barangays of Balamban town last Saturday.

PO1 Teofilo Verano Jr. of the Balamban police said that the team led by Chief Insp. Florendo Fajardo, Balamban Police Station chief, and 1st Lt. Raner Dexter of the Philippine Army, assisted by the police from Asturias town, searched the mountain areas of Barangays Sunog and Bayong and found the marijuana planted at the side of a cliff.

Verano said they uprooted 23,999 fully grown marijuana plants that were ready for harvest.

They, however, failed to arrest the cultivators of the marijuana plants, who escaped after seeing the group approach the area. The uprooted plants were later burned in the area.
