EXPECT more Cebuanas to make an impact in the big leagues in the future.

This after two more players from Cebu signified their intention to play for the University of the Philippines (UP) in the UAAP after high school.

The two are Krich Aeshelouz Macaslang, who hails from Danao City, Cebu, and Mycah Go from Bogo City, northern Cebu.

Both are currently enrolled at the Hope Christian High School (HCHS) in Manila. The 16-year-old Macaslang is a Grade 11 student while Go, also 16, is a 10th grade student at Hope.

In a chat with Cebu Daily News, Macaslang said that multi-titled Head Coach Jordan Paca recommended her to HCHS and UP Coach Jerry Yee.

“I want to explore my abilities, so hopefully I can pay back those who sacrificed for me,” said Macaslang, who played for Cebu Province in the Batang Pinoy games.

This early, Macaslang already feels the pressure of following the footsteps of fellow Cebuanas Isa Molde and Justine Dorog, who are currently playing for UP. But she remains optimistic that she can overcome the pressure.

“I know my teammates and Coach Jerry (Yee) will help me,” Macaslang said.

Go, meanwhile, a former Southwestern University (SWU) belle, is also set to join the Lady Maroons in college after high school at HCHS. She declined an offer from the Far Eastern University (FEU) and chose UP.

Go said that though it was partly her parents’ decision to choose the Lady Maroons, she also had a say.

“I picked UP because of their education,” Go said.

Go was part of the SWU team that won the 2013 and 2015 Cesafi girls’ titles. She was also a member of the 2015 Cebu City Olympics champion squad.
