FIVE job order employees of the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (Penro) were ordered dismissed from service on Monday.

Penro legal officer Ace Escolar said the five persons can only be reinstated if they were cleared of wrongdoing by an investigation on them.

Cebu Gov. Hilario Davide said he received reports on the alleged extortion practices of some Penro personnel. Escolar said Penro chief Baltazar Tribunalo ordered the dismissal of the five Penro enforcers.

Escolar said he was told by Tribunalo that the five JOs admitted to having asked money from some of their clients during a recent confrontation.

Davide said in a separate interview that the fate of the five JOs should serve as a warning to other Capitol employees.
