NEARLY a month after the National Poomsae Taekwondo Championships, Cebuano sparring jins take their turn in the spotlight as they vie for supremacy in the 40th National Taekwondo Kyurogi Championships on July 23 and 24 at the Cuneta Astrodome in Manila.

The University of Cebu (UC) team of coach Michael Realista confirmed their participation and said he will field their top fighters to the two-day event.

Making up UC’s boys’ team are Warren Jan Rama, Dineson Cañeda, Neil Patrick Seares, Dominic Sator and Clive Coronel. The girls’ team is composed of Melody Jane Enfante, Mayn Coran, Princess Megan Parba, Ellen Joy Villacarlos and Carmela Coran.

The tournament is sanctioned by the Philippine Taekwondo Association and will be a five-on-five team style competition.

Around 2,000 participants from around the country are expected to join in the tournament.
