A SUSPECTED drug pusher died after reportedly trying to resist arrest during a buy-bust operation at Sitio Ihawan, Barangay Mantuyong, Mandaue City at 3 p.m. Wednesday.

Chief Senior Insp. Hugo Rio Ipong, Centro police precinct chief, said Ricky Potot was in their watch list.

“We appealed to him to surrender during our Oplan TokHang, but he refused to do it,” Ipong said.

He said barangay officials told them that Potot, a fire victim, had returned to the illegal drug trade and they set up a buy-bust operation to arrest him. But Ipong said Potot pulled out his .38 revolver and tried to shoot the arresting officers.

Two sachets suspected to contain shabu were recovered from Potot, who was rushed to the Mandaue District Hospital but failed to make it.

In Badian town, another suspected drug pusher who refused to surrender was arrested by police in Barangay Poblacion last Tuesday evening.

Taken from 36-year-old Ramil Agravante were one large pack and two small sachets suspected to contain shabu worth P60,000 and P200 in marked money.

PO3 Jonathan Calabroso of the Badian police said 70 drug users and pushers from 29 barangays surrendered to them yesterday.
