Capitol’s revenue up to P1.3B as of May

THE province’s revenue went up to P1.308 billion from January to May this year, up by P200 million from the P1.172 billion earned in the same period last year.

Provincial Treasurer Emmanuel Guial yesterday credited the revenue increase to more collections on taxes like real properties and the income from the province’s different district hospitals.

“Aside from our IRA (Internal Revenue Allotment) which is permanent, our tax collections have picked up as well as our receipts from the district hospitals. It really increased,” he said.

From January to May this year, the province collected P91.5 million from its district hospitals.

This is more than 50 percent of its target collection of P162 million for the entire year even if the records didn’t include the months of June and July yet.

During the same period last year, the province only collected P72.4 million from its district hospitals.

The provincial government set a target collection of P2.939 billion for the entire year this year.

With the collection of P1.3 billion for the first five months of 2016, the province is already at 44.49 percent towards its target collection.
Guial said this paves the way for additional supplemental budgets that may be proposed by the Governor’s Office for the rest of the year to fund other urgent expenses that may be identified and needed.
