THE SACRED Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu will host the 1st Cebu International Goodwill Games on Thursday at the Magis Eagles Arena inside the Ateneo de Cebu campus in Canduman, Mandaue City.
The reigning Cesafi juniors basketball champions will be hosting the Yi-lan Senior High School of Taiwan, which came to visit the Magis Eagles back in 2014.
Ateneo de Cebu also went to Taiwan to play Yi-lan in a series of exhibition matches last year. Also coming to town will be the collegiate squad of the Colegio San Agustin (CSA).
Opening the festivities on Thursday will be a match between the hosts and CSA at 5:30 p.m. Then, Yi-lan will suit up against the Pinoy Youth Dreamers, a team from Manila. Teams will play a single round-robin with the top two teams after the elimination round advancing to the title game on Sunday afternoon at the same venue.
The pocket tournament is being backed by San Remegio Properties of Ateneo de Cebu alumnus Mark Ynoc.
There will also be a football tournament on July 18 and 19 at the Fr. Julian Hernando S.J. Athletic Field.
