Sharks stun Stallions to snatch first win in E-League for Basketball
THE Accenture Sharks ended their slump in a big way as they finally barged into the win column by taking down the erstwhile unbeaten Lexmark Stallions, 74-55, last Saturday in the Elite Classic of the 12th City Sports Club-Cebu (CSC-C) E-League for Basketball at the CSC-C Gym.
The Sharks led at the end of every quarter, putting up a solid performance that netted them their first win after starting the tournament with two straight losses.
Junas Marion Misa top scored for the Sharks with 16 points and also added six assists, five rebounds and a steal. Equally productive was Archie Brian Batua, who delivered 13 points, 14 rebounds, five assists and a steal.
Marloni Gonzales and Miguel Lorenzo Calo each added 10 points in a balanced Accenture attack.
Sylvester Millevo scored 15 points, Jan Oneil Sahilan pitched in 11 markers but Lexmark’s top big man Franco Angelo Cipriano managed just seven points and five rebounds in their first loss in three games.
In the other Elite Classic duel, the Eperformax Reds snatched their second win in three outings after they blasted the slumping Wipro Tigers, 78-69.
Esrom Cuizon paced the Reds with 20 points, Robert Gilo piled up 16 points and 17 rebounds, while Nolan Dela Peña chipped in 13 markers, nine boards, two blocks, three assists and two steals.
Reinario Salibay, Ernie Ygot and Fritz Blanes combined for 26 markers for the Tigers, who fell to 0-3 (win-loss).
Meanwhile, Jonas Panerio dropped eight three-point bombs and led the Author Solutions Inc. (ASI) Hardbacks to a 62-56 win over the Dyninno Raptors in the EVO League action.
Panerio finished with an E-League career-high 26 points while also tallying six boards, three steals, three assists and a block to lead ASI’s second win in four matches. Panerio was backed by Donald Stephen De Leon, who scored 12.
Rainer Dominic Obenza had 14 points for the Raptors, who slid to 2-2.
The Kyocera Frontiers, on the other hand, improved to 4-0 after they nipped The Results Spartans, 80-75.
Ariel Ramonito Edera erupted for a game-high 30 points to spearhead the Frontiers, while Jade Seno scattered 26 markers for the Spartans, who stayed winless after three games.
