The Mandaue City government will launch on Monday its month-long activities to celebrate the city’s Charter Day celebration on August 30.
The activities are in cooperation with the Mandaue City Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCCI), which will also celebrate its 51st founding anniversary during the Mandaue Business Month in August.
The Mandaue Business Month, launched yesterday at the Marco Polo Hotel in Cebu City, was spearheaded by MCCCI president Glenn Soco.
Among the activities lined up are the Mandaue Talks with Business (MTB) at San Miguel Corp. on August 3; tree planting and feeding activity that will be jointly conducted by MCCCI, San Miguel Corp., City department of General Services, Planning and Agriculture and the Department of Education (DepEd) at the Umapad dumpsite; business summit at Oakridge Pavilion on August 10, 11 and 16; and the Chamber night on September 2.
The Mandaue City government will open the Inter-Department Sports on Aug. 12 at 3 p.m. at the Heritage Plaza.
“A Maze Mandaue,” a game patterned after the amazing race where participating groups have to find special and memorable places in Mandaue, will also be conducted by the MCCCI and the Department on Education. There will also be a medical mission, declamation, oratorical, trivia contest and property and Expo at SM Trade Hall.
Association of Barangay Councils (ABC) president and Mandaue Fiesta Committee chairman Ernie Manatad said the city council has already asked Malacañang to declare August 30 as a special non-working holiday in Mandaue in observance of the city’s 47th Charter Day celebration, which will open with a concelebrated Mass at the Mandaue Sports Complex and will be followed by a foot parade with drum and bugle corps.
Julia Ballesteros, Assistant City Treasurer, said they will also recognize the top 20 corporate and individual taxpayers on the awards night.
She said they planned to give bonuses to around 800 employees, both regular and casual.
