THE NLEX Road Warriors turned their game up another notch in the fourth period as they exacted revenge upon the Blackwater Sports Elite, 103-86, in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup on Thursday at the JCSGO gym in Quezon City.
Facing a five-point deficit after three periods, the Road Warriors found their rhythm and went on a blistering 31-19 run that got them the win and a measure of vengeance against the team that put a stop to their title run in the Foundation Cup last year. They also improved their record to 8-1 (win-loss) while dropping Blackwater to 6-4 and in danger of missing the quarterfinals.
In other games, Jason Ballesteros buoyed the Jumbo Plastic Giants by scoring 11 of his 23 points in the second period to beat Cebuana Lhuillier 82-70.
The former Gilas member anchored a second period breakaway where they outscored the Gems, 26-9, to build a 43-35 halftime lead.
The Gems still had a shot at the win but went scoreless for an extended period in the final canto that paved the way for the Giants to build a 76-66 lead. Jan Colina and Karl Dehesa added 12 points each to help Jumbo Plastic get their 10th win in 13 games. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
