More than a week after being killed in a shootout with police in an aborted drug bust operation in Danao City, the younger brother of alleged drug lord Alvaro “Barok” Alvaro was laid to rest at past 1 p.m. yesterday.

About a hundred relatives and friends of the Alvaros and Ronnie Castro, the alleged cohort of Medz Alvaro, attended the funeral, said Senior Insp. Alejandro Batobalonos, Danao City police chief.

PO3 Joel Ilustrisimo, duty desk officer of Danao City police station, said the funeral Mass was held at the Sto. Tomas de Villanueva Parish at 1 p.m.

Batobalonos said no untoward incident occurred while the funeral of both Medz and Castro was held yesterday.

From the church, the remains of Medz and Castro were separately buried.

Medz was buried at the Sanctuary Memorial Park while Castro’s remains were buried at the public cemetery in Barangay Taytay.

Batobalonos said the threats to the Danao City police that were allegedly issued against them by Alvaro’s group didn’t come to pass due to their intensive monitoring and security.

But Batobalonos said they are still on guard against any possible attack on their ranks.

The Danao City police is scheduled to hear the grave threat charges they filed against Emma Alvaro, the mother of both Medz and Barok.

Batobalonos said they were advised by the Danao City prosecutor’s office to do this as part of the procedure.

The hearing is scheduled at the Barangay Poblacion hall this morning.

Batobalonos said they are keen on filing 18 counts of grave threat against the elder Alvaro who allegedly threatened to have them killed for what they did to her sons.
