THE barangay captain of Cogon-Pardo, Cebu City was arrested last Monday on accusations of graft and corruption.

Barangay Captain Harry Eran is facing charges in court for violating Republic Act 3019 or the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act.

Judge Gilbert Moises of the Regional Trial Court Branch 18 ordered his arrest with bail recommended at P30,000.

The Cebu City Police Office’s Warrant Subpoena Section under the supervision of Senior Insp. Jesus Arong, served the warrant.

Cebu Daily News tried but failed to reach Eran through the phone. A text message sent to him was also left unanswered.

Eran and members of the Lupon of Barangay Cogon-Pardo were earlier indicted for their alleged refusal to issue a certificate to file action requested by Andres Cuesta on his complaint against another party.

Cuesta and the other party whom he had a confrontation tried to settle their differences at the Lupon.

But according to reports when Cuesta, after four attempts to settle their differences at the Lupon failed, and when no action was taken on his request for minutes of the settlement proceedings and his request for a certificate to file action, decided to file a graft complaint in court.
