Trafficking charges filed against spa operators
Trafficking charges were filed against the operators of a spa outlet in F. Ramos Street in Barangay Cogon-Ramos, Cebu City at the Cebu City Prosecutor’s Office Thursday afternoon.
Sisters Emilia Cañada and Anna Tacio Cabilin, operators of Bea’s Spa and Massage were taken into custody days after a raid in their outlet showed that 11 massage therapists were offering “extra services” including sex for a fee.
Agent Wenceslao Galendez Jr. of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said they recommended the inclusion of Cañada’s daughter, Irene Gargar, in the charges since she was the registered owner in the outlet’s business permit.
Galendez said Gargar should undergo preliminary investigation since she was not arrested during the raid and was not included in the inquest.
Galendez said it is now up to the prosecutor’s office whether or not to elevate the charge to trial before the trial court. He said they are waiting for a detention commitment from the court in order to detain the two sisters.
