TWO motorcycle-riding gunmen who allegedly robbed a sales agent of San Miguel Beer were killed by the police during a brief chase in Barangay Lao, Borbon town, northern Cebu around 3 p.m. last Tuesday.
Prior to the incident, PO1 Ivan Rey Davison of Sogod Police Station said the suspects, identified as Phil-Am Apas Camingawan, 35, and Richie Ebarita Demy, 23, both from Barangay Gun-ob, Lapu-Lapu City, robbed a certain Sheumeel Laribe, 35, sales agent of San Miguel Beer.
Laribe was heading north to deliver bottles of beer when blocked by the suspects in Barangay Bawo, Sogod.
The suspects alighted from the motorcycle, approached Laribe and held him up at gunpoint, taking his bag containing P4,000. The robbers fled further north.
Laribe immediately called up the Sogod Police Station, which then conducted a checkpoint but the suspects did not stop prompting the police to chase them.
Davison said the backrider kept on firing at the authorities on board a patrol car but the police fired back and finally neutralized the suspects in Barangay Lao, some 15 kilometers away from Sogod town proper.
Recovered from the suspects were .38 and .357 revolvers, two bonnets, black motorcycle with plate number 6282 YD, 2 cellphones and loot money.
