Talisay mangles Carcar, now 5-0 in Gullas hoop

THE youngsters of Talisay City extended their unbeaten record with a, 103-56 rout of Carcar in the 1st Samsam Gullas Cup last weekend at the San Fernando Sports Center in the municipality of San Fernando.

The victory was Talisay’s fifth in a row as they remained on top of Division A with a clean 5-0 win-loss card. Current University of the Visayas standout Jhiey Paraldo led Talisay with 27 points and 10 rebounds along with three assists and a steal.

Four other players scored in double-figures with Bruce Tan adding 15, Lenel Caneda and Denzel Sabroso pitching in 14 each and Vyrol Villanel contributing 10.

Carcar did not have anyone score in twin digits and fell to 1-4.

In Division B, Minglanilla got past San Fernando, 96-92, to boost their card to 4-1. Jiesel Tarrosa paced Minglanilla with 32 points, 10 rebounds, six steals and two blocks while Marc Nebril and Steven Silva added 19 and 14 points, respectively.
San Fernando got 29 points from Shawn Toquero but still fell to 3-2.

Finally, Naga grabbed their second win in five outings after nipping Sibonga, 77-72. Keith Visayas and Kent Quijano formed an awesome two-some for Naga as they tallied 23 and 20 points, respectively.

Sibonga remains the only winless team in the tournament at 0-5.
