MAO BA?

BLESSING

Rather than ask for alms, a boy approached a commuter and asked if he could bless him which the commuter obliged.

Seeing this, another street kid approached the commuter and asked if he was related to the boy. When he said no, the boy asked if he could bless him, too.

Afterwards, the boy asked ‘Kuya pangayo kuarta beh pakaon lang (Big brother, can I ask for money so I can eat)?”.

FREE DRUGS?

When news broke out that seven barangays in the province are drug-free, a teenager got curious and asked reporters what it meant.

“Kana bang free na ang drugs (does it mean the drugs there are for free)?,” the teenager asked, which drew laughter from the reporters.

INSENSITIVE

A local government official vented his ire on national government agencies that refused to shelter the fire victims of one of his barangays despite the proximity of their offices to the fire site. Only one agency allowed the fire victims to use its open space as an evacuation center. Fire victims who took shelter in the other agencies’ open spaces were asked to leave.

“It breaks my heart that even at 9 p.m. they told us to immediately vacate their place. To think these are fire victims and some of them are blind,” the official said.
