THE UNIVERSITY of the Visayas (UV) Baby Lancers’ standout Joshua Yerro continued to stand head and shoulders above his contemporaries as he topped the Chooks to Go/NBTC Cesafi 24 rankings in Week 5.
Yerro gained the nod after his 17-point, 13-rebound, five-assists, four-steal performance in UV’s 75-51 demolition of the Cebu Eastern College Dragons. The defending champions remain unbeaten this season at 6-0 (win-loss).
Jumping eight spots to the second spot was the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Baby Jaguars’ Matthew Paras, who collected 21 points and eight rebounds in their 77-69 conquest of the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) Baby Panthers.
In third is USPF guard Neon Chavez, who rose from the eighth spot, after tallying 13 points, six rebounds and four steals in the team’s 58-44 win over Don Bosco.
Ranked in fourth and fifth, respectively, were two Baby Lancers — heady guard Gabriel Cometa and the high-leaping forward Popoy Actub — both of whom have played stellar basketball to help the green and white keep their immaculate record this season.
Completing the top 10 are reigning Cesafi MVP Beirn Laurente, Ateneo de Cebu’s Coco Tuadles, USPF power forward Rojan Montemayor, University of Cebu combo guard Jerick Ranido and Cebu Institute of Technology-University’s Carlos Garcia.
