Cebuanos can enjoy thrill rides as Minglanilla theme park opens
THE public can enjoy thrill rides offered in a theme park in Cebu starting this Christmas with the opening of Anjo World today (Dec. 22).
The 3.5-hectare property in the Belmont One Complex in Calajoan, Minglanilla town in southern Cebu, boasts of 12 rides, which include thrill rides like the 25 meter Drop Tower, Boomerang (Frisbee), Hip Hop (Go Go Bouncer), Space Shuttle and the Viking and family kiddie rides as well.
However, only 7 of these 12 rides will be operational as of the moment.
According to Cedric Reyes, head of sales, marketing and press relations of Anjo World, the remaining 5 rides were still underway.
The theme park will be open from noon to 8 p.m. on weekdays, while on the weekends they will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Safety features
Safety will always be their main priority, said Reyes in an interview during the theme park’s media day on Friday (Dec. 21).
So for Anjo world, all the rides are equipped with a state-of-the-art computerized safety system.
“When a lock is not aligned, the system automatically detects the error and the ride will automatically slow down,” he said.
Reyes also said that their rides had met the American Standard for for Testing Material (ASTM).
With this, Reyes said he hoped that Anjo World could draw more tourists to Cebu as locals would no longer have to travel to Manila to experience a world class amusement park.
“Locals will no longer have to travel to Manila or to other countries because we have it here in Cebu,” said Reyes.
Tickets
The management are now working on coordinating a shuttle ride to the amusement park and incorporating it with the price of the ticket.
They are also working on launching an app that will enable visitors to buy their tickets through their mobile phones.
“Right now we already have it on Google. We are just waiting for the approval from the App Store for Apple devices,” said Reyes.
The app will be launched next week.
