Three Cebuanos may make it to PH Under-18 team

Cebu Daily News February 22,2014 - 10:13 PM

THE PHILIPPINE’S under-18 basketball team head coach Jamike Jarin admitted that three Cebuanos are looking good to make it to the final cut of the squad that will compete in the Fiba Asia Under-18 Championship in Doha, Qatar this August.
Jarin, who Cebu Daily News spoke to before the Talk N Text Tropang Texters’ game last Friday night, singled out current National University Bulldog Dave Wilson Yu, Adamson Falcon Dawn Ochea and University of the Philippines Maroon Paul Desiderio as players who just might gain a slot in the team.
“They’re looking good. But obviously, we’ve got a long way to go and who knows what might happen. But so far, they’ve been performing real well and they’re looking good for the team,” Jarin said.
There are several Cebuanos on the 18-man pool that is currently practicing three times a week at the Moro Lorenzo gym inside the Ateneo de Manila University campus. This includes NU’s Rendell Senining, UP’s Henry Asilum and Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu’s Arnie Padilla.
The RP team is aiming to improve on their 6th place finish in the 2012 edition of this tournament held in Ulan Bator, Mongolia. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
