Eight Cebuanos qualify for national Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA
Eight Cebuanos have earned their stripes and are headed to the national stage after they qualified to the 2014 Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA National Training Camp at the close of the regional selection camp yesterday at the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) basketball courts in Canduman, Mandaue City.
Five boys, namely Wayne Besaluña, Andrew Velasco and Steven Co from SHS-AdC, the University of San Carlos’ Jomari Ranuco, and Jethro Rocamora of the First Christian Baptist School were the boys from Cebu who made the cut to the nationals, which will be held on April 25 to 27 at the Philippine International Convention Center and the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall.
They will also be joined by Andre Dadivas of the University of St. La Salle and Donn Lim of St. John Institute in Bacolod.
On the distaff side, the three Cebuano girls were Lymiel Padilla of SHS-AdC, who happens to be the younger sister of Jr. NBA alumnus and soon-to-be Far Eastern University Tamaraw, Arnie Padilla; Mary Jean Pascual of the University of Southern Philippines-Foundation and Ma. Kassandra Bayking of Abellana National High School.
Regional selection camps will also be held in Dagupan, Puerto Princesa and Manila. Two previous regional camps were held in Surigao and Iloilo.
