Chinese PUM completes 14-day home quarantine

CEBU CITY, Philippines — A Chinese national, who is presently residing in Dumanjug town, 70 kilometers southwest of Cebu City, finished 14 days of mandatory quarantine last Friday, February 14.

A Certificate of Completion posted by the town’s Public Information Office on Tuesday, Feb. 18, said that the Chinese national arrived in Cebu on Jan. 31 or before the national government’s order to ban foreigners arriving from China, Hong Kong, and Macau from entering the country in line with the threat of the Coronavirus Disease 2019.

But because of his travel history, the Chinese national has been tagged as a person under monitoring (PUM).

The Chinese national has been staying in Dumanjug town since Oct. 2019 because of an ongoing project in the area. He left for China on Jan. 17 to celebrate the Chinese New Year there.

“Kung mahinumduman nahimo siyang PUM tungod sa iyang travel history diin niuli siya sa China pagka January, ug nibalik siya sa Dumanjug niadtong Jan. 31, 2020 ug boluntaryong nagself quarantine hangtud Feb. 14,” the PIO advisory said.

(To recall, the Chinese national became a PUM because of his travel history wherein he traveled to China in January and returned to Dumnajug on Jan. 31, 2020 and has since volunteered to undergo self-quarantine which he completed on Feb. 14.)

According to the Certificate of Completion signed by Municipal Health Officer, Dr. Josefina Malana, the Chinese national was already cleared on Feb. 15 because he did not manifest any symptoms of the COVID-19 infection.

As of 10 a.m. of Feb. 18, 2020, Central Visayas has two admitted Persons Under Investigation (PUIs) or those individuals that have manifested symptoms of the Covid-19. / dcb
