Policeman’s presence in drug suspect’s house puts superior in trouble

The chief of police of Borbon town in northern Cebu will be summoned to explain the presence of a policeman at the house of a suspected drug pusher.

Insp. Glenn Devocion will have to answer why he failed to monitor the activities of his men, said Senior Supt. Noel Gillamac, director of the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO).

PO2 Bernardino Almeda was in the house of Edwin “Jongjong” Cabahug who was the subject of a buy-bust operation conducted by the Provincial Intelligence Branch and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Central Visayas (PDEA-7).

Cabahug eluded arrest but police arrested his live-in partner, Mirafe Mendoza, Almeda and one Zeev Tulod.

Seized from Cabahug’s house were different sizes of plastic packs believed to contain an estimated value of P50,000, disposable lighters, buy-bust money worth P500 and a digital weighing scale.
Almeda will be facing criminal and administrative charges.

Gillamac talked to Almeda after his arrest and reasoned out that he was in the area because the station police chief asked him to conduct surveillance.

Gillamac said the policeman will have to prove his innocence in court.

Almeda is detained at the Consolacion Police Station pending the filing of charges against him.
