MANDAUE CITY, Philippines — The number of infected Mandaue city hall employees have risen to 6 today, Jan. 25, 2020.
The latest employee found positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) worked at the City Legal Office (CLO).

Five City Engineer’s Office workers were found infected with the virus last week.
Lawyer John Eddu Ibañez, executive secretary of Mayor Jonas Cortes, said on Saturday, January 23, 2020, some of the results came and four of the City Engineer’s Office employees were found positive.
This is aside from the City Engineer’s worker who was first found positive of COVID-19 on Jan. 20.
The latest infected person also prompted the temporary closure of the CLO and the swabbing of the office’s 32 employees.
The nearby offices of the City Legal Office were also closed for three hours after the personnel from the Mandaue Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (DRRMO) also disinfected the offices.
These are the offices of the City’s Public Information Office, BAC Office, and Housing and Urban Development Office (HUDO).
The temporary closure or “lockdown” of the City Legal Office also placed Mandaue City’s government offices under lockdown at three.
The City Engineer’s Office and the Office of the Building Official’s office were temporarily closed or locked down on Jan. 20 when the City Engineer’s employee was found infected with the virus.
On the temporary closure of the City Legal Office and OBO, Ibañez said that they would be waiting for the recommendation of the city’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) because they were still awaiting the test results of the OBO workers.
With the COVID-19 cases in city hall offices, Ibañez said the city administrator would issue a memorandum adopting work-from-home-scheme for senior citizens and those, city hall employees with comorbidities, /dbs
