CCTO to Brgy Officials: Help clear roads in your areas

MANDAUE CITY, Cebu – The presence of congested roads prevented Cebu City firefighters from immediately putting out a fire that broke out in Barangay Sambag 2 on Tuesday afternoon, March 16, 2021.
Cebu City’s Transportation Office (CCTO) said it is always important to clear roads of obstruction to allow government vehicles to pass in case of emergencies.

Traffic officials said that it is a responsibility of barangay officials, not just CCTO, to ensure that roads in their respective areas are unobstructed.
“Awhag nato sa mga Brgy.Opisyales nga motabang unta sila og badlong sa mga magpataka og parking, labi najud kining mga trisikad,mga tindahan nga nilapas na sa mga kadalanan,” CCTO said in an advisory that was posted on its Facebook page this Wednesday morning, March 17.
(We are asking barangay officials to help us call the attention of those who will use the roads for parking, especially the trisikads, including stores that are already encroaching the roads.)
“Kawang lang ang atong paningkamot sa pagpahapsay sa kadalanan og dili mo kooperar ang mga hingtongdan nga Brgy,” the CCTO advisory said.
(Our efforts to bring order to city streets are put to waste if we do not have the cooperation of the concerned barangays officials.)
As part of their road clearing efforts, CCTO clamped a total of 84 vehicles early this Wednesday morning, March 17, for violation of a city ordinance that prohibits night illegal parking.

The CCTO operation was focused in Barangays Mambaling, Inayawan, Basak Pardo, Kinasang-an, Bulacao, Camputhaw, Capitol Site, and along M. Velez Street among others.
CCTO also reported an increase in the number of road violations committed during the first half of the March 2021 in comparison with those that were logged for the first half of February 2021.
Traffic enforcers issued 6, 317 citation tickets during the first 15 days of March and only 5,674 tickets during the same period last month. Violations include parking on the sidewalks, use of defective plate and head lights, and lack of mud guard among others./bmjo
