Rama starts Jan. 1 City Hall revamp

By: Jose Santino S. Bunachita January 06,2015 - 09:54 AM

Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama started the new year with a revamp of personnel.

Effective Jan. 1, Dominic Dino who used to head the Human Resources Development Office  is the mayor’s chief of staff.

City Assessor Ferdinand Canete was transferred to the City Legal Office. His department head post was taken over by his assistant, Liezel Gonzaga.

The mayor’s former chief of staff,  Diane Muego, is now  assistant head of the Protocol Office.

The new HRDO head will be Mary Ann Suson and her assistant will be Juvy Morelos.

In the Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC), Rama  decided to split the post of the chief of hospital.

Dr. Gloria Duterte will be director for medical services while Rey Cris Panugaling, who used to be the assistant department head of CCMC, will also be director for administration.

“I’ve seen that CCMC cannot be managed by one person alone. The two of them will be on the same level,” Rama told reporters yesterday.

He said this is not a demotion for Duterte.

The new CCMC assistant department head will be Dr. Anton Reposar.

Rama said the new assignments took effect  January 1.

Department heads are given three to six months to perform their duties, said the mayor.

If he’s not satisfied with their performance, Rama said another revamp will be made.

Lucelle Mercado will continue as  city administrator with Dino and Celso Jimenea as assistant department heads.

“On top of being the mayor’s representative in the Local School Board, I will have Raddy Diola work with the city administrator to oversee the city’s special projects,” Rama said.

The rest of the department heads will retain their  posts.
