Policewomen received yesterday an early Valentines treat from their superiors at the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO).
Each of the 28 policewoman and six civilian personnel were given a box of red velvet cookies and a red rose.
“This is the first time that I received a gift from a colleague on Valentine’s Day. It’s very overwhelming on my part knowing that they are giving us women importance,” said Police Insp. Arieza Otida, head of Cebu City Women and Children’s Protection Desk.
Senior Supt. Arnel Banzon, deputy city director for administration, organized the pre-Valentine’s Day gift-giving as a treat for their female colleagues.
“We want to show that at the PNP, we also celebrate Valentine’s Day like many people. We also gave flowers to the policewoman in our office as a gesture for Valentines,” he said.
Banzon asked the 28 policewomen and their six civilian personnel to line up outside the CCPO building along Gorordo Avenue in Cebu City about 10 a.m. yesterday.
He and Mag TV host Borgie Cabigas handed the cookies and red roses to the ladies.
Banzon said they also wanted to celebrate Valentines with their female colleagues before they focus on law enforcement in today’s Valentine’s Day celebration.
Police personnel will be deployed to especially secure public places like plazas that are expected to be crowded with families and couples wanting to celebrate Valentine’s Day in those places.
