In its desire to raise funds needed for a costly surgical operation of one of its employees, the Crest Forwarders Inc. has organized a fun run dubbed “Forwarders Run” scheduled on Oct. 4 in Sumilon Road at the Cebu Business Park.
Proceeds of the race will be donated to Mary Anne Tigbao, the company’s 26-year-old customer service representative (CSR) supervisor, who figured in a road accident last June 14.
Tigbao was hit by a speeding motorcycle in front of their office in barangay Mabolo.
The accident changed the life of Tigbao after doctors found out that there was a swelling in her brain as a result of the accident.
Doctors opened up her skull to prevent her brain from further swelling and remove the clot that developed inside.
The company shouldered Tigbao’s medical expenses and helped her recover fully from the accident.
However, Tigbao has to undergo another major surgery called Craniotomy where the skull that was taken will be put back.
The surgery costs around P600,000.
“I am very blessed for having this kind of people at my side. I already thank God and the company for supporting me in the upcoming surgery, I hope I can make it,” said Tigbao, who was emotional when she spoke to sportswriters in yesterday’s launching held at the Crest Forwarders Office.
Along with Tigbao were Board of Director John Von Tibay, Sales Executives’ April Escario and Christopher Mendroza and Accounting Team Leader Hazel Ferolino.
“We will continue to support her (Mary Anne). We want to let her know that the entire company is at her back, we just hope that the Cebuano running community will join us to support her. We decided to organize a running event because we know that we can accumulate more funds to help her,” said Mendroza.
Tigbao, a mother of two, is a pioneering employee of Crest Forwarders Inc.
“Mary Anne is a very bubbly and very friendly employee of ours and we want to bring back that jolly smile of hers that’s why we came up with the idea of organizing a running event to help her in her second surgery,” said Ferolino.
The running event will be featuring a three-kilometer, 6k and 12k distances that will be divided into two categories, the open and forwarders category.
There will be cash prizes for the winning runners in each distances. Registration fee is pegged at P300, P350 and P450 for the 3k, 6k and 12k distances, respectively.
Registration starts on Monday at the RUNNR Ayala Center Cebu, Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC) and at the Crest Forwarders Inc. in M.J Cuenco Avenue in barangay Mabolo, this City.
