MORE than 30 houses were destroyed in a fire in Saint Anthony Village, sitio Cadahuan, barangay Talamban, Cebu City at past 4 p.m. yesterday.
Erlinda Himaya, 65, sustained third-degree burns in her arms and legs. She was immediately rescued by her neighbors and brought to a hospital.
The fire started in the house of Richard Hermoso.
FO3 Novo Erana said the alarm was raised at 4:10 p.m. and the fire was under control after five minutes.
Since the houses were made of light materials, the fire spread quickly to 37 houses.
Erana said there were initial reports that Hermoso’s house was used as a drug den and that a lighted candle used in a shabu-sniffing session may have been left unattended inside. He said this report still has to be verified.
Property damage was pegged at P200,000.
