The Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) lost laptops, cash and other gadgets to burglars Monday last week.
This is the second theft incident in the hospital since July. Both cases remain unsolved.
The burglars entered through the sliding window of the hospital’s training room. They took a netbook worth P50,000 owned by Dr. Celia Mabalatan, the chief training officer. Also lost were three Lenovo laptops worth P126,000, a camera worth P85,000 and P3,000 cash.
Chief Insp. David Señor said the absence of CCTV cameras in the hospital hampered the investigation.
The management has stepped up security measures, said VSMMC information officer Nonoy Mongaya but he wouldn’t give details.
He said questions should be directed at the private security agency assigned at the public hospital.
