THE NEWEST kids in town – the 2014 Underdogs – showed their readiness to bang it out with the big boys as they took down the 2004 Rebels, 60-58, in double overtime in Division 3 action in the University of San Carlos North Alumni Basketball Conference Sinulog Homecoming Cup that was held over the weekend at the USC North Campus Gym along Mango Avenue.

In spite of being 10 years younger, the Underdogs showed no fear and rode the hot shooting of Noriko Benedicto and Chris Rama who scored 13 each to hand the Rebels their first loss of the tournament and tie their victims for third place at 2-1 (win-loss).

In other games, the defending champions 2011 Elevens evened up their record at 1-1 with a 73-62 win over the 2006 Fury. Gen Bongo had 17; Dave Guardiario added 12 while Lorenzo Bacaltos and Anthony Romaguerra combined for 18 to give the Elevens their first win after opening this competition with a shocking loss.

The 2007 Waybus though, kept the lead at 3-1 after they blasted away the 2003 Stallions, 81-63. The Fury and the Stallions remain winless at 0-2 and 0-4, respectively.

In Division 2, the 2000 Millennium remained unbeaten after creaming the 1995 Pirates, 73-64. The 1999ers also scored a huge 70-62 upset of the erstwhile undefeated 1994 Bulldogs while the 2001 DosMilUno got past the 1996 Chubbies, 61-52.
