CPSC to continue grassroots sports program this year

By: John Carlo Villaruel January 05,2016 - 02:04 AM

AFTER a fruitful first year, the Cebu Provincial Sports Commission (CPSC) will look to sustain their momentum as they continue their Grassroots Sports Development Program this year exclusive for athletes 15 years old and below.

In the first year of the program, CPSC made a huge breakthrough as it trained an estimated number of 2,000 coaches from the 51 towns and cities of the province.

“We will continue our grassroots sports development training program and friendly competitions for athletes 15 years and below,” said CPSC chairman Brando Velasquez.

It can also be recalled that CPSC organized several big sporting events last year such as the National Age Group Chess Championships, First Regional Flag Football Tournament and the Cebu Provincial Athletic and Cultural Meet.

Velasquez said that CPSC will meet with their stakeholders later this month to further discuss the plans for 2016.

“CPSC will be conducting a consultative meeting with stakeholders within the month to discuss matters relevant to this program,” Velasquez added.
