Visiting runners took the spotlight in yesterday’s 2nd Flame It! Burger Run held at the Sugbu grounds in South Road Properties (SRP), Cebu City.

Kenya’s Abraham Kilimo ruled the men’s 21-kilometer race with a time of one hour and 12 minutes, while Sultan Kudarat’s Ruffa Sorongon emerged the fastest in the women’s 21k contest with 1:36.04.

It was Sorongon’s 21k title of the year after finishing seconds to Dumaguete City’s Mereeis Ramirez in last month’s RC Goldline Half Marathon where Kilimo ruled the men’s 21k category.

Sorongon’s closest pursuer was Lizane Abella, who timed 1:37.15. Lovely Fe Andrin came in third at 1:42.58.

Kilimo was followed by compatriot Eric Chipsiror, who finished the race in 1:12.04. Rafael Piscos landed at third with 1:12.47.

In the 14k division, Davao City’s Elmer Bartolo went home with the crown at 49:02, beating Arnel Florentino, who settled for second place with 51:56.
Adonis Singson wound up third with 52:57.

In the 14k distaff side, Cherry Andrin took the top spot by breasting the finish line in 1:07.55.

Mary Joy Castor placed second with 1:13.22 and Rexel May Dalinog came in third with 1:17.23.

Winning the men and women’s 5k races were Ronil Gabilan Jr. (18:46) and Rosemarie Tumamak (23:34), respectively.

Carl John Beboso (12:04) and Jesel Ochia (12:49) topped the men and women’s 3k contests, respectively.

Around a thousand runners joined the footrace. Some 50 kids who are the beneficiaries of the Cebu City Sports Commission’s (CCCSC) grassroots development program for running joined the 3k fun run.

Proceeds of the running event will be donated to the Guba Elementary School in Cebu City.
