THE scheduled world title showdown between reigning WBO World bantamweight champion Pungluang Sor Singyu and Filipino Marlon Tapales was moved to another date.
According to Philboxing.com, the Sor Singyu-Tapales duel originally scheduled on June 17, has been moved to July 22 still in Thailand. Also, the venue of the title fight is yet to be determined.
Tapales, the prized boxer of promoter Rex “Wakee” Salud, was ecstatic when he landed the world title shot against Sor Singyu but expressed concern over this latest development.
The Philboxing.com report stated that Sor Singyu’s promoters from the One Songchai Promotions failed to get enough sponsors for the fight resulting in its postponement.
Sor Singyu (52-3-0, 35KOs) of Bangkok, Thailand is best remembered for scoring a TKO victory against ALA Boxing Gym’s AJ “Bazooka” Banal four years ago in Manila.
Tapales (28-2-0, 11KOs) earned the world title shot when he scored a second-round stoppage of Japanese Shohei Omori during their title eliminator bout in Kyoto, Japan last December.
