COURT personnel were called on to complete their records in cases they elevated to the Court of Appeals during last week’s Bench and Bar dialogue organized by the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) Cebu City Chapter.
Court of Appeals Executive Judge Gabriel Ingles said they sustain delays in the disposition of cases due to incomplete transmission of court records, including the transcript of stenographic notes and other pertinent documents.
“It is the duty of these personnel to complete the submission of records so we can decide on cases immediately,” he said.
Last week’s dialogue was a follow-up to last September’s gathering in Cebu City, with another one scheduled in September this year.
Hidelito Pascual, IBP Cebu City Chapter president, said the dialogue’s participants included 39 branch clerks of courts from Cebu City and Mandaue City.
Pascual said even if the delay in the transmission of court records can be attributed to the stenographer’s incomplete stenographic notes, the branch clerk of court can be held responsible due to command responsibility.
