Gaballo stakes clean slate in Brawl at the Mall card
REYMART Gaballo, nicknamed General Assassin, will try to stay undefeated when he struts his wares in the fourth installment of the Brawl at the Mall on June 26 at the Gaisano Mall Atrium in General Santos City.
The 19-year-old Sanman Boxing Gym stalwart Gaballo will face former Philippine Boxing Federation super bantamweight champion Jilo Merlin of San Francisco, Agusan del Sur in the fight card dubbed as “The Next Generation.”
Gaballo is still unbeaten in 13 fights with 11 knockouts.
“Reymart Gaballo is the next big thing out of Sanman Gym,” said Sanman chief executive officer Jim Claude “JC” Manangquil. “(But) we are just taking our time when he fully matures,” said Manangquil.
Manangquil said Gaballo still needs more fights to gain needed experience.
“I also want to see him go to distance. But overall he is an incredible talent,” said Manangquil.
In his previous fight, Gaballo flashed tremendous power when he knocked out Marlon Arcilla in the opening round in the undercard of the Brawl at the Mall: Unbeaten last April 30 at the Makati Square Cinema in Makati City.
“He has that power that I have never seen before,” Manangquil said.
Gaballo’s stellar start saw him scoring knockout wins over Bryan Samson, Romulo Ramayan Jr., Frejun Dela Cruz, Rocky Alvarez, Michael Padayag, Zaldy Jordan Jr., George Auguis, Bryan Dave Casumpang, Kevin Cabonales, and Jayson Engalan.
The 27-year-old Merlin, on the other hand, has 13 wins, 26 losses and two draws.
Merlin is looking to get back on track after suffering a knockout loss in his last fight against Jessie Cris Rosales in their battle for the vacant Philippine Boxing Federation (PBF) featherweight title last March 9 at the Cawayan Social Center, in Cawayan, Masbate.
