Content Specialist

Key Responsibilities:

  • Content Creation:
  • Develop and write engaging content that includes viral stories, odd news, crowdsourced content, and unconventional police reports.Ensure content is timely, share-worthy, and has the potential to resonate with a broad audience.
  • Content can be in various formats, such as articles, videos, podcasts, and infographics.
  • Audience Engagement:
  • Use non-traditional news content to drive reader interaction and engagement on the platform
  • Ensure that the content is SEO compliant.
  • Collaboration:
  • Work closely with the news, video, social media, BAI, SEO, analytics and UX teams.
  • Contribute to team discussions and provide feedback on content and strategy.
  • Quality Assurance:
  • Ensure all content aligns with the publication's standards and editorial guidelines.
  • Regularly review and update content based on performance metrics and reader feedback.
  • Innovation and Adaptation:
  • Stay informed about trends in digital media and audience preferences.
  • Continuously adapt and innovate content offerings to stay competitive in the digital media landscape.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field
  • Preferably 1-2 years experience in a related field; open to fresh graduates with related experience
  • Proven experience in writing, journalism, or content creation, preferably in a digital news setting
  • Strong writing and storytelling skills, with an ability to produce creative and engaging content
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Familiarity with digital media trends, SEO, and social media platforms.
  • Excellent research and fact-checking skills. Strong collaboration and communication abilities.

Content Strategist (Sales and Marketing) | Cebu-based

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the content strategy directions of Brandroom, Marketing, and Sales for all projects, paid and internal.
  • Work closely with the Sales and Marketing Team to ensure smooth and timely production of all projects. Ensure timely delivery of all paid and internal marketing and branding projects with the goal of client and partner satisfaction.
  • Ensure that every content strategy implemented on campaigns and projects produced by BrandRoom succeeds in quantitative and qualitative metrics, measured through apt tools used internally by INQUIRER.net.
  • Ensure strict quality control for all Brandroom-led content and concepts with the guidance of the CDND Digital Advertising Officer.
  • Accountable for the pageviews targets of assigned projects and platforms and recommend strategies to meet agreed targets.
  • Work with Sales Team to develop content-for-revenue projects, and develop (pitch decks) creative content advertising concepts for production and implementation as advertisers or management required.
  • Objective assignment of roles and tasks to content creators and freelancers
  • Coordination with Inquirer.Net Brandroom / Marketing Team for client executions and requests, such as boosting
  • Responsible for the day-to-day administrative management of content creators and freelance pool (management of schedules, workloads, requirements, training, etc.)
  • Assume confidentiality in all projects and dealings.
  • Perform other related tasks that may be assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A graduate of Journalism, Communications, or Marketing course, or has worked in the media or marketing industry. Students and practitioners from adjacent courses or industries are welcome to apply.
  • At least 1-2 years experience in a related job
  • Has excellent writing, communications, and creative thought processing skills
  • Has the ability to process instructions and ideate based on set goals and objectives
  • Is abreast in the latest lifestyle, marketing, business and entertainment trends
  • Proficient in both Microsoft Office tools (Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and Google Workplace Suite (Sheets, Slides, Docs).
  • Know-how in Adobe Photoshop and Canva is a plus

Copy Editor

Key Responsibilities:

  • Processes breaking news filed by reporters, sent by Central Desk, from the wires, and stories monitored from TV, radio, social media and other websites.
  • Handles channel/s on the site, breaks and edits stories meant for the assigned channel/s. Ensures accuracy of details in stories as well as correctness in grammar and spelling.
  • Enhances assigned channel/s content with related reports, videos, infographics, links and other tools that will engage readers.
  • Coordinates with Inquirer.net Tech unit to ensure that all the links on the entire site are functioning.
  • Performs other related tasks that may be assigned from time to time.

Minimum Qualifications

  • College graduate, preferably major in Journalism
  • At least 1-2 years experience as editor for a news organization or in a related job
  • Computer skills, Communication skills, Writing skills

E-Sports Contributing Writer

Key Responsibilities:

  • Write timely stories that will appeal to and engage the target audience of Esports INQ
  • Optimize headlines, keywords and tags for search engine optimization (SEO) to increase search visibility
  • Work with INQUIRER.net editorial and sales teams to improve content strategy and grow the Esports INQ community
  • Review and update articles based on performance metrics and feedback
  • Attend coverages, conduct interviews and provide write-ups for major industry events, on occasion

Minimum Qualifications

  • College graduate preferably major in journalism, communication, or other related field
  • At least 6 months of experience in writing content for a digital publisher
  • A creative storyteller who can produce engaging content
  • Previous experience in covering the esports and gaming industry is much preferred
  • Solid understanding of search engine optimization and best practices
  • Must be a self-starter and be able to learn the latest industry developments
  • Strong organizational skills to ensure timely turnover of articles

Multimedia Reporter (Editorial)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Writes news and feature stories based on information gathered from news coverage, interviews, statements and other possible sources of news produces journalistic content -- in the form of stories, images and videos -- for the website.
  • Takes photos, shoots video as required by the coverage.
  • Posts updates on social media (e.g. tweets and Facebook Live).
  • Cultivates sources and plans interviews for exclusive, in-depth or feature stories.
  • Adheres to the news organization’s prescribed editorial style and the Journalists’ Code of Ethics.
  • Performs General Assignments duties for the various INQUIRER.net news desk as assigned from time to time.
  • Performs other related tasks that may be assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

  • College Graduate, preferably major in Journalism or Communication Arts.

Sales and Marketing Assistant | Cebu based

Key Responsibilities:

  • Schedules and implements CDND advertising campaigns by uploading all marketing/partner content (social media and website) as stated in signed contracts.
  • Ensures that all client campaigns are executed on time.
  • Maintains client advertising deliverable logs and ensures all advertising execution links are saved for easy tracking.
  • Delivery of post-campaign reporting.
  • Update sales decks and info kits monthly for advertising clients.
  • Develops CDND in-house brand campaigns and brand content for revenue purposes and is accountable for the brand/marketing push of CDND assets, and platforms by way of marketing campaigns.

Minimum Qualifications

  • College Graduate, preferably Marketing Management/Business Management and/or other related courses.
  • Must be willing to be based in Cebu, In-depth knowledge of all things Cebu, Required languages/dialects: Cebuano, English, Filipino, Must be able to thrive working in a virtual/remote setting.

Social Media Specialist

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitors established or developing social media for potential stories, especially Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, etc.
  • Monitors standard media for potential social media stories, especially key websites and wire services.
  • Amplifies Inquirer.net and other Inquirer content on social media, especially by promoting stories, highlighting connections, and participating in comment threads.
  • Regularly conceptualizes and develops features and content for social media, including photos and video.
  • Appears on-screen as talent for live or recorded content.
  • Writes social media-specific stories for Inquirer.net social media platforms
  • Writes longer stories for publication on Inquirer.net and other Inquirer platforms, on occasion.
  • Performs other related tasks as may be assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • College Graduate, preferably major in Journalism or Communication Arts and/or related courses

Web and Systems Developer

Key Responsibilities:

  • Website Development and Maintenance
  • Write well-designed, testable and efficient code using best software development practices;
  • Create website layout and user interfaces by using standard HTML/CSS practices;
  • Responsible for maintaining, expanding and scaling the site;
  • Integration and Optimization
  • Integrate data from various back-end services and databases;
  • Optimize website performance and ensure compatibility across different browsers, devices and platforms;
  • Develop and implement new website features, tools, and functionalities to improve user engagement and drive audience growth;

  • Proficient in HTML5, PHP, MySQL, CSS, XHTML, XML, RSS, Ajax, JavaScript (Angular JS is an advantage)
