NEW CHAMPIONS were crowned over the weekend as upsets rocked the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) lawn tennis competitions at the Alta Vista Tennis Courts.

Two-time champion Norman Joseph Enriquez of the University of the Visayas (UV) saw his bid for a three-peat come to an end as he lost to Christopher Encarnacion of the University of San Carlos (USC), 8-5, in the men’s finals.

However, the most remarkable performance of the afternoon came from USC’s Francis Lambayan, who came back from a 3-6 deficit to dethrone Marc Nicole Suson, 8-6, and bag the gold medal in the boys’ competition.

Other gold medalists were USC’s Shyne Villareal, Beverly Enriquez and Lyrah Repollo, UV’s Elizabeth Abarquez, Precious Coderos and Denice Kaye Alota, and University of Cebu’s Ralph Juliane and Clyde Bienes.
