The University of the Visayas (UV) Green Lancers came up with a twinkill in the 16th Cesafi men’s basketball tournament last night at the Cebu Coliseum.
The Green Lancers thwarted the Cebu Institute of Technology-University (CIT-U) Wildcats, 69-48, in the seniors division with top rookie Tristan Albina pacing the team with 13 points. The Gary Cortes-coached Green Lancers also got 10 markers from Rey Suerte.
UV started off slow but still managed to lead, 32-26, at halftime after consecutive triples from Albina and skipper Josue Segumpan.

UV also had a hot start in the juniors division after the Baby Lancers humiliated the CIT-U Wildkittens, 90-41, with Jancork Cabahug leading the way with 18 points.
Also taking off to a good start were last season’s runners-up, the University of Cebu Baby Webmasters, who authored a thrilling 87-83 double-overtime win over the resurgent University of San Jose-Recoletos Baby Jaguars.
Luigi Gabisan had a monster outing of 26 points and 15 rebounds while diminutive guard Gelmart Umpad had an all-round showing of 12 points, six assists and five steals
SWU outlasts USC.
In the main game, the Southwestern University (SWU)-Phinma Cobras pulled out all the stops in the fourth to outlast the defending champions University of San Carlos (USC) Warriors, 68-54.
Leading by just two, 47-45, at the start of the fourth, the Cobras got a boost from some timely offense of two-time reigning MVP Mac Tallo, returning reinforcement Quintin Nzuzi and rookies Shaquille Imperial and Arnel Molina to hack out the victory.
