BEING away from home did not deter Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña from gloating.

The mayor, who is in the United States for his annual medical checkup, shared on his Facebook page an uploaded photo from the CNN Philippines’ Facebook page showing President Rodrigo Duterte reading his list of mayors, judges and police officers who are allegedly drug protectors or otherwise involved in illegal drugs.

He captioned the post with “and guess who he named? And Team Rama’s social media trolls kept trying to make it look like I was the drug protector?”

The mayor also answered some questions from the netizens.

Hengerald Baguio said, “I never doubted your sincerity towards Cebuano Mayor Tom! I am just hoping your support to our PNP will be back after this and let’s all move forward to a better Cebu!”

The mayor replied, “Give me cops I can trust, and you will see the difference. In the meantime my full support is with PDEA-7. This is your money, not mine, and it is my duty to select whose performance will best use it.”

Herzzl Rubia also placed a comment and asked the mayor, “Sir Tom, now that it’s validated and revalidated by the president, what are you gonna do about your political rival the former mayor?? From the looks of his physique and obvious weight loss, I think he’s not only a coddler.”

Osmeña then replied, “Chasing him is self-serving; the President will handle that. I will just chase the suppliers.”

Former Cebu City Mayor Mike Rama posted on his Facebook page four hours after Duterte’s announcement that he was included on the drug protectors.

“The news that my name was mentioned by President Duterte is saddening. Even how untrue this accusation is, should this be the way and the necessary step to win the war against drugs, I will fully cooperate with the authorities to immediately clear my name and we trust that we will be given the opportunity to present our side and prove our innocence.

“My unwavering support for President Duterte’s campaign will continue. My family and I have always been law-abiding citizens and have been very clear about our stand against drugs. May justice prevail and the truth set us free. God bless Cebu and God bless the Philippines,” Rama’s post read.

Rama’s Facebook post had mixed reactions from the netizens.

Albert Gastanes Magalso commented, “Our dear President is very serious. There were no exceptions in war against drugs, even if the person involved finished his/her terms in the government. Everybody knew that our president won’t speak or name the people involved in drugs on the public without a concrete evidence or concrete investigations, he wont also risk the lives of innocents with that.”

Another Facebook user named Kirby Nuñeza Domingo also said, “I asked for help from you a lot of times during your term for Lahug’s drug problem and you did not do anything about it! Mao diay. No wonder! Shame on you!”
