BAYFRONT Hotel Cebu remained the lone unbeaten team in the highly competitive Division A after it squeaked past the Cebu Landmasters, 66-65, in the PLDT SME Nation – Alfredo Gothong 21ST SHAABAA Cup Basketball Tournament last Sunday at the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu in Canduman, Mandaue City.
Elmer Mykiel Cabahug led the 2-0 (win-loss) Bayfront with 23 markers, outgunning the Landmasters’ (1-3) Moncrief Rogado who had 21.
In other Division A games, the defending champions Petron Bling Nation finally notched a win as they beat Harley Davidson, 68-62, in a rematch of last year’s finals.
After two straight losses, crafty guard Ed Macasling scored 23 while Job Shan added 14 to help Petron get their bearings back. Harley Davidson, which got 22 from Fletcher Galvez, fell to 0-2.
In Division B, Batch ‘97, AutoLAB Batch ‘99 and Dynacast Batch ‘01 all kept their clean slates with wins over their respective opponents.
AutoLAB routed White Gold Club Batch ‘96, 85-57, Dynacast also blasted Core Pacific Batch 2000, 62-46, while Batch ‘97 crushed Batch ‘93, 83-36.
