A Marian concert will be held on October 7 at 7:30 p.m. at the International Eucharistic Congress (IEC) Pavilion in Barangay Mabolo, Cebu City.

The “It’s All About Her” concert is organized by the Kapandesal MultiPurpose Cooperative (KMPC) Cebu to raise P5 million for the construction of two classrooms and a laboratory for the K-12 program of Our Lady of Lindogon Foundation in Barangay Simala, Sibonga town in southern Cebu.

Architect Emelie Sumalinog, manager of KMPC Cebu, said in a press conference Thursday last week that the two-classroom school building will be used by the Grade 11 students, who are presently holding classes in their guidance counselor’s room.

The project will also ease the students’ burden of paying P80 for a habal-habal (motorcycle for hire) ride to another school, which is five kilometers away, to attend K-12 classes.

Performers for the Marian concert include ABS-CBN’s 2004 talent search winner Rochelle “Raki” Vega, Eva Santos, Girlie Las Piñas, Izazuri Vidal, former Basilica Minore del Santo Niño rector Fr. Jonas Mejares, the Mandaue Children’s Choir, Cebuano singing group Sakdap and On The Cover Band.

“This is one of my ways to say thank you to her (Mother Mary),” Las Piñas said.

The concert will open with a Mass with Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma as the main celebrant.

On October 8, the image of the Birhen sa Simala will be brought to the Basilica Minore del Sto. Niño for easier access to devotees who wish to pay homage to the Virgin.

Concert tickets are priced at P200, P500 and P700.
