55 police officers in Central Visayas relieved
CEBU CITY–Fifty-five more policemen are moving out of Central Visayas.
Director General Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa, Philippine National Police (PNP) chief, ordered the immediate transfer of eight police officials in Cebu and 47 non-commissioned officers with the rank of police officer 1 to senior police officer 4.
They were heading either to the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) or the rebel-influenced areas in Cordillera.
The order from Camp Crame does not explain the reason for the relief.
But Chief Supt. Noli Taliño, director of the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7), raised hints that those included in the revamp had derogatory records, some of whom are linked to illegal drug activities.
“Their involvement in illegal activities had been validated by Camp Crame and so this (relief) order came,” he told reporters.
Last month, Camp Crame also ordered the relief of 28 operatives of the Regional Special Operations Group and the Regional Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Force as well as five police colonels.
Included in the latest batch of relieved police officials were Supt. Reycil Carmelo Dayon, Supt. Renato Malazarte, Supt. Alvin Ballo, Chief Insp. Noel Lomente, Chief Insp. Sarah Jane Recla, Chief Insp. Wilson Abot, Chief Insp. Richard Gadingan, and Chief Insp. Gerald Suquib.
Dayon of the Provincial Public Safety Company of the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO); Malazarte, deputy provincial director for operations of CPPO; Ballo, Carcar City Police Station chief; and Lomente, head of the Traffic Management Unit of Mandaue City will go to ARMM.
On the other hand, Recla of CPPO; Abot, chief of the Liloan Police Station; Gadingan, chief of the San Fernando Police, and Suquib of the Cebu City Police Office are going to Cordillera.
Taliño said he doesn’t mind losing policemen in Central Visayas as long as the region gets rid of scalawags in uniform.
“Even if we just have a few personnel (at the regional office), that’s fine as long as I am dealing with good and honest policeman,” he said.
