THE Architects + Engineers Basketball Association Corporate Cup 2016 is set to fire off today with defending champions Megabond trying to fend off five challengers to their crown over at the Cebu Eastern College gym.

The tournament, the AEBA’s second this year, figures to be an all-out war as architects, engineers and guest players alike battle for hardcourt supremacy. It was launched on Friday night at a gala that was presided over by its president, Architect Paolo Alberto and vice president, Josephril Partosa.

Aside from the civil engineers-manned Megabond, also competing are last year’s runners-up, Dormakaba, Davies, Fenestram, Phoenix and Sea Olympus.

Teams will play a single round-robin with the top two getting a twice-to-beat advantage in the crossover semis against the third and fourth-ranked squads. The finals will be a best-of-three affair.
