TRAFFIC enforcers started monitoring vehicles carrying refilled butane canisters but were unable to spot or apprehend any in Lapu-Lapu City’s streets yesterday.

Liliy Amplayo, desk officer of the Lapu-Lapu City Traffic Management System (CTMS), said all traffic enforcers were ordered to apprehend anyone carrying refilled butane canisters.

Anyone caught carrying refilled butane canisters will be issued a citation ticket and fined P3,000 to be paid at the City Treasurer’s Office.

Their vehicles will also be impounded, Amplayo said.

The Association of Barangay Councils (ABC) of Lapu-Lapu City and Senior Supt. Rommel Cabagnot, Lapu-Lapu City police chief, met to finalize plans for a citywide information campaign against the use of refilled butane canisters.
